Structure, and
the feeling of witness.
Taylor Lowe builds figurative work in charcoal and oil on canvas, moving between sacred narrative, family portraiture, and the living world of the Southern backyard. Each piece is composed with the discipline of structure and the feeling of witness.
The drawings are not simply depictions. They are moments held at their breaking point — the instant before resurrection, impact, memory, arrival, or disappearance. Many works are created at large scale, including 24 × 36 and 30 × 40 inch canvases, allowing the subject to carry the weight and presence of an original object.
Working primarily from Mobile, Alabama, Lowe releases work by series — most recently The Three Days, a sacred triptych, and Backyard Guardian, oil works finding the sacred in the ordinary.
